Wedding FAQ

How far in advance do I need to book with you?  The sooner the better! As soon as you are certain that you would like to have me be a part of your wedding it is best to book it. Dates fill up fast especially in the summer!

How long have you been in business? 2017 will be my 11th summer of shooting weddings.

How would you describe your photography style (e.g. traditional, photojournalistic, creative)? Over the years I have developed my own personal style which is a combination of both photojournalism & creativity. My goal on your wedding day is to give you give you some absolutely beautiful pieces of art that you can hang on your wall and enjoy for years. I am a romantic at heart and my images reflect that.

How would you describe your working style? On the wedding day I do my best to stay out of your way and blend into the crowd. During the bride getting ready and our closed portrait session (either before or following the ceremony) I am very much a part of what is happening and will give you direction and help to keep us on schedule. Once our portrait session is over I fade into the background to capture all of the fun traditional moments (cake, bouquet toss, dancing etc.)

What do you think distinguishes your work from that of other photographers? As mentioned earlier, I am a romantic at heart and my images reflect this. I believe that your love is special and the most important part of my day is my bridal couple session with the two of you. I believe over the years you will not continue to hang that picture of grandma making the silly face or of you cutting the cake or dancing. The image(s) that you will have on your wall is the gorgeous wall portrait of the 2 of you amidst the beautiful setting of your wedding expressing your love for each other. I believe that my emphasis on this is what sets me apart from most wedding photographers. Not only do I photograph weddings but I also fashion and work a lot with women of all ages. This leaks over into my wedding images to give you a look of  glamour, high fashion and beauty rather then just taking pictures of the events of the day.

What type of equipment do you use? Most of the images that you see on my website and at the studio are created using natural light when possible. Oftentimes during a wedding I will need to bring in additional lighting due to overly dark rooms. I will use flashes as well as constant lighting. I do my best to keep this out of your way and not allow it to be a distraction to you or to the intimacy of your wedding.

Are you shooting in digital or film format or both? The general consensus seems to be that either format yields excellent photos in the hands of an experienced professional, and that most people can’t tell the difference between film or digital images anyway. I’m a Canon girl myself and I do shoot all digital in order to cut down on the costs to you as well as processing time and image turnover. My equipment consists of a 5D Mark III & all canon L Series lenses.

Do you shoot in color and black & white? Both? Infrared? Digital cameras shoot in color but photographers who shoot in a digital format can make black & white or sepia versions of color photos as well as a great deal of other color options.

Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like? Of course! After shooting a great number weddings I know all of the shots that you are going to want that are consistent to every wedding. Please tell me about your special details so that I can make sure to get images of those things that are specific to your wedding.

Can you put together a slideshow of the engagement session (along with other photos the couple provides) and show it during the cocktail hour?  Absolutely! There is an additional charge for this service which we will discuss during our initial meetings.

What information do I need to provide you before the wedding day? I have a list of items that I will need from you prior to the wedding day including the completed contract and deposit (full payment is due on the day of the wedding), a copy of your invitation as well as a complete vendor list. My contract includes all of the major information that I will need from you.

If my wedding site is out of your area, do you charge a travel fee and what does that cover? I love to travel! Especially for weddings and am always happy to do so. If your wedding is within driving distance, I charge $.55 per mile as well as accommodations for the previous night and the wedding night. If flying is necessary, I charge for the airfare, rental car and accommodations for however many days we deem necessary as well as $200 per day other than the wedding day itself.

Is it okay if other people take photos while you’re taking photos? I am absolutely fine with other people taking photographs while I do as long as I have the full attention of the bridal party, family members and couple. During the couple’s portrait time with me I request that there are no other people around in order for us to be as efficient as possible.

If my event lasts longer than expected, will you stay? Is there an additional charge? I photograph weddings for either a half day (4hrs) or a full day (8hrs). If  we see that things are running behind or for some reason we need more time, I will stay longer for an additional charge of $200 per hour.

What packages do you offer? I photograph for either a half day (4 hrs) or a full day (8 hrs). There is a set fee for these 2 options and they include only my time to photograph as well as a copy of the digital images in high resolution. In addition to that, I offer many a la carte items such as albums, wall canvases, prints etc. You will receive a copy of my price list and additional items when you receive your contract and intro package.

Do you include engagement photos in your packages? An engagement session is a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to start feeling comfortable being photographed by me. An engagement session is included  in the full day rate and is available for additional purchase with the half day rate.

Do you provide retouching, color adjustment or other corrective services? After the wedding if you are in the area, we will set a date to have your cocktail viewing. For this viewing I pick approx. 100 images that I retouch, color correct and ad my special touches to. If you are not in the area, when I load your proofing gallery online, it will include these same retouched images for your online slideshow. Any images that you order for your final product will always be retouched and color corrected.

How long after the wedding will I get the proofs? Will they be viewable online? On a CD? Your proofs will be available within 6 weeks of the wedding and will be put in an online proofing gallery for you and all your friends and family to view, purchase and enjoy. You will also receive a DVD of your high resolution images.

How long after I order my photos/album will I get them? Once your order is placed you will receive your products within 6  weeks.

Will you give me the negatives or the digital images, and is there a fee for that? High resolution images are included in the purchase of the half-day and full-day commissioning rates.

How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan? I require half of  the commissioning rate at the time of booking, however, I am very flexible with this. I understand that weddings can be very expensive and I don’t want finances to be the determining factor on you having the wedding photographer of your choice. Because of this, I do offer a payment plan as well as gift registry.

What is your refund/cancellation policy? The deposit is non-refundable.
