Q&A

Seniors, Headshots & Glamour

  1. Do you photograph on location or in a studio? As you can see from my work, I love to do both. Upon your initial consultation we will discuss what kind of image you have in mind and if it would work best in my studio or on a location.
  2. How many pictures will you take of me? During an average photo session in the studio I will take approx. 50 images per outfit.
  3. How long will the session last? An average session takes roughly 2 hours. Please plan on 3 hours at the studio to include an hour for hair & makeup.
  4. How many different looks are included in the price? The basic 2 hours session with hair and makeup includes 3 different outfit changes.
  5. How will you direct me during our sessions? In other words, do you help me to come up with different expressions or am I responsible for doing that on my own? During the whole shoot I will walk you through every step. I give a great deal of instruction and demonstration in posing and facial expression. I have a tendency to shoot fewer images and work more with you on getting the perfect posing and facial expression rather than shooting more and directing less. Some people are very comfortable in front of the camera and are able to pose themselves accordingly…most are not. For those who are I allow them complete freedom and little direction.
  6. What should I wear? Please do not bring wild prints or outfits with wording on them. Solid, classic colors are always best. If you are not completely comfortable with your arms, please do not bring strapless or sleeveless shirts. Wear clothes that you look and feel great in!  Please try not to bring your trendiest outfit as you want your images to still be relevant to you next year. (Remember those school pictures where your bangs were crazy and you had on a hyper color shirt? Every time you look at that you wonder “what on earth was I thinking?!! Try to stay away from this.)
  7. What happens once the session is complete? How do I get my pictures? At the end of your session, we will schedule a time for you to come back to the studio for your viewing. This will be within a week. This will be our time to go through pricing and options and is your time to make your decisions and purchases. Once your initial viewing and purchase is complete, your images will be put in a password protected online proofing gallery for friends and family to view. You will be able to make purchases from the viewing gallery.
  8. I only want the Digital Images.  At the end of your session, we will schedule a time for you to come back to the studio for your viewing. Whatever you purchase during your viewing you will also received the full resolution digital image. A usb drive of the digital images is also available for purchase in addition to the price of your initial shoot.
  9. How much can I expect to spend? Prints start at $275 and go up from there.
  10. What about retouching? Do you offer that service as well? Retouching, color correction and my own special touches are included in any image that you purchase. Any image you receive with be perfect!
  11. What about hair and make up during the shoot? Do you provide that service? If so, is it included in the price? For all of my studio shoots, hair & makeup is included. If you prefer to do your own hair and makeup we can make arrangements for this and I will send you hair & makeup suggestions and tips. There is no discount if you choose to do this yourself.

FAMILY

  1. Where do we shoot? Most family photos, with the exception of mother/daughter are done on location. This makes for a fun afternoon with the family. There are so many locations to choose from! Your home, a park, the lake anything you can think of! What does your family like to do on family outings? Perhaps go for a bike ride or go skiing or swimming. Let’s use those family adventures as the backdrop for our photo shoot! If you are from out of town, please let me know as I have many great locations that I work in on a regular basis.
  2. What do we wear? I like to have everyone in a similar color scheme but not to matchy. No bright patterns and no clothing with words on it. Keep everyone to like colors (all earth tones, or blacks & grays or all bright solids). Please don’t do blacks and whites! This is very hard to photograph! Either all dark or all light!
  3. How many people? We can photograph as many family members as you would like. At a session where we have a typical family reunion with grand parents, children and grandchildren, I will do the group as a whole, then individual families, couples and children. I will cover everyone!
  4. How long should we plan for? For family photos please plan on at least an hour per 5 people… if you have 10 people, at least 2 hours.
  6. I only want the Digital Images. Can I get just the disk? At the end of your session, we will schedule a time for you to come back to the studio for your viewing. Whatever you purchase during your viewing you will also received the full resolution digital image. A disk of the digital images is also available for purchase in addition to the price of your initial shoot.

Boudoir

  1. Where will we shoot? Generally I shoot boudoir in my studio, your home or a posh hotel room.
  2. What will I wear? Most women like to provide their own outfits, however, I do have a wide variety of clothing to choose from if you don’t have any of your own. Corsets, thigh highs and heels are my favorites and a must have for your shoot. At minimum, I recommend that you bring a black push-up bra, black panties & cheeky/boy shorts to pair with my corsets, baby-dolls etc.
  3. What about posing? A lot of women are a little nervous about the shoot and I often hear people say, “But I don’t know how to be sexy or do sexy poses!” To which I say, “Don’t worry!”  You are in good hands. I will coach you through the whole process and will never leave you to come up with a pose on your own (unless you want to!). So relax, enjoy the experience and have fun!
  4. Will you use my pictures online? NO! None of your images will ever be put online without your written permission.
  5.  I’d love to do it but first I need to loose 10 lbs. Life is short. You are who you are right now and you are beautiful just as you are now. Life goes by and we can’t wait for when we are 10 lbs lighter or our skin clears up or we get our hair cut or whatever we think is currently taking away from our beauty. As a photographer I see women as gorgeous as they currently are. Any flaws that you think you have…I can work with. upon your arrival I do discuss with you your personal body image and your likes and dislikes. I take all of these into consideration during lighting and posing so you need not worry about that 10 extra lbs!
  6. Do you “Photoshop”?  This is the first and most frequently asked question when discussing boudoir photography with my clients. When I hear it, I know we’re about to discuss my image retouching abilities and sensibilities — you know, what and how well I fix things. The camera sees everything. So, I have a lot of tools. As might be expected, there’s makeup, clothing, location, and lighting; But what blends them all together is post processing—the “can you Photoshop?” thing. So the answer is yes. For your viewing I retouch or “photoshop” a selection of your images so that you can see and understand the before and after. Any images that you purchase will be retouched and absolutely perfect upon delivery to you. If you don’t wish to see any of the originals, only the retouched images, this can be arranged as well. Regardless, you are stunning as you are. Beauty truly does come from the inside and it’s simply my job to bring it out. As the lovely miss Audry Hepburn once said…”the prettiest girls are the ones who smile.”
  7. How much does it cost? My boudoir photo shoots are $195 . This includes a pre-shoot consultation, professional hair & makeup, two hours of camera time, and a selection of images from which to purchase. In addition, I offer a variety of ways to display your choices, including little black books, calendars, private folios, and mounted and framed prints.

  8. What happens once the session is complete? How do I get my pictures? At the end of your session, we will schedule a time for you to come back to the studio for your viewing. This will be within a week. The viewing will be your time to see your gorgeous images and to go through pricing and purchase options. This will be is the time to make your decisions and purchases. Once your initial viewing and purchase is complete, your images will be put in a password protected online proofing gallery for friends and family to view. You will be able to make purchases from the viewing gallery. As a general rule, I do not give digital images from my boudoir shoots.
