Headshots!

July 17, 2018

A professionally taken headshot, like the ones below of Jeff, show people that you care about the details, and how you appear to others. You don’t always  get a second chance to make a first impression, so make sure you show yourself in your best possible light, and help yourself look as professional as possible, especially when you are likely to often be “meeting” people for the first time online these days. Getting yourself professional photographs is also a great way to celebrate yourself!

Many women say they feel their best during pregnancy but others struggle with health and body issues. Whether or not you love how you look, a professional photography session will make you feel beautiful and help you capture a special point in your life forever. Capture those emotions of what it felt like to be expecting so you can look back on them with fondness and remember what a unique and amazing experience it was. We were able to capture this for Lynette and Dave and give them photos they will be able to cherish forever.

We are super in love with this gorgeous headshot session! Mikki came to our Bozeman studio and we were able to get some fabulous images for her. We were able to sneak in some personal photos for her as well including some glamour shots in a black dress I made in the studio!

Jackson Hole makes the PERFECT Christmas Card backdrop

I loved having the opportunity to create this little video with this amazing family. It will give you just a little behind the scenes peek into the afternoon that I spent with them and their bond that makes them family.

Over the last 10 years as my business has grown and evolved I’ve had to chance to photograph all different kinds of people in all different situations. When I first started working as a photographer in Jackson Hole on my own I was shooting the guests at a local dude ranch every week. It was families on vacation in the wild west. After photographing hundreds of families over those few years at the guest ranches I can tell you exactly who has the majority of photos in this world and who has the least. It’s always been the same…Mom always wants pictures of the children and never wants to be in front of the camera.

Women (especially moms) have major hangups. We aren’t thin enough, young enough or good looking enough to have photographs of ourselves. It has always been and always will be a challenge to get mom to exist in photographs on her own and with her children and family. She is always the one behind the lens with some excuse or another. But here is the question, Mom. How sad the time will be when your children and family go to look for photos of you and there are none? Didn’t mom go on that vacation with us? Why wasn’t she in any of the photos from the family shoot we did at the beach?

With the recent death of my own father and the search for photographs of him after his passing, I can assure you that any personal hangups he might have had about his appearance absolutely do not matter to me in the slightest when I look at the photographs I have of him. I just see him in photographs as my wonderful dad. I can tell you that it doesn’t matter where you are at physically or if you need to get your teeth fixed or loose weight or need your roots done. You’re children see you as mom and as perfect and all of your insecurities don’t translate through the photographs. I want you to exist in photographs for your children, for the people who love you and for yourself. As my favorite photographer says “After a lifetime of capturing memories for people I know that there is no amount of money in this world that will ever equal the value of the memories that you create that last a lifetime so don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid of that.”

With Mother’s day coming up very soon I want you to create a memory not only for mom but also for you. Give her the gift of a beautiful portrait session of herself and bring the children and family in at the end for images of all of you together. Honor her by letting her know that she doesn’t have to loose weight, get her teeth fixed or buy a new wardrobe to be your mom. There are no qualifying factors to give her the position. She just is and always will be mom and she deserves it.  Even if you already have a gift for her, I promise you nothing will be more meaningful.

This Maternity session of my beautiful friend Debbie is one of my favorites and one that I am very proud of. The first set of images are from her pregnancy along with her lovely family and the second set of images are the sequel to her beautiful baby bump. So proud of you my friend, for having the courage to step in front of the camera! Thank you for letting me create these memories for you!
